About Blue River Prawn Large 罗氏河虾
The biggest river shrimps are now available in the UK. These Blue River Prawns are imported directly from Sri Lanka. They are caught live before being brought on board. We blast freeze them in our London factory before sending them out.
They look different compared to sea water prawns. The Blue River Prawns have long claws and live in tropical freshwater rivers for most of their lives. They have a mild and sweet taste. The yellow part from the head is often referred to as the 'head butter' because of its appearance. It looks like butter, is similar in color, has a creamy texture, and a bold, buttery flavor.
In Thailand, Blue River Prawns are highly sought after – they are considered a delicacy and a prestigious food, something nearly all Thais would love to eat. Perfect for BBQ, pan-frying with butter, and finishing with sea salt & fresh lemon juice.
